Bespoke consultation
Whether it be general skin care, you overall appearance at any age, or specific concerns such as acne, scarring, skin texture, Dr Nicole will always strive to listen and create a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

"Good skin requires planning, self care, your time and effort. I always strive to outline a plan which will suit a patient's requirements. Some people love skin and treatments and will do 'all the things', whilst other's, due to time or budget constraints, may prefer a more conservative approach. I will start my journey with a patient by outlining options. For some patient's that might entail regular skincare at home as well as semi regular anti wrinkle treatment, for other's it might be a more comprehensive plan, including laser, bio-remodelling, filler restoration and then maintenance."

Anti Wrinkle
Anti-wrinkle treatments are most commonly used to improve wrinkles of the forehead, frown area and the 'crow's feet' around the eyes.
in Australia we aren't legally allowed to advertise the brand names of any medicines, including the brand of any injectable products.

Areas of the face that can be treated include
- forehead lines
- frown lines
- crow's feet/smile lines
- bunny lines
- vertical lip lines 'aka lip flip'
- brow shaping or lift
- gummy smile

Bruxism/teeth grinding/facial slimming
Bruxism is a common behaviour affecting affecting up to 3% of the general population. It is excessive grinding of the teeth, awake or when asleep, resulting in tooth hypersensitivity, aching jaw muscles, head and neck aches and longterm tooth damage.
Treating the masseter muscles help by weakening the strength of these muscles, and are adjunctive to dental treatment such as a mouth splint at night while asleep. Anti wrinkle treatments will help decrease the severity, and provide relief for related symptoms- head and neck pain, jaw pain and more.

Some people who have enlarged masseter muscles have a 'square' face shape, and may benefit from masseter treatment to slim the shape of the face.
Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is a condition affecting about 1% of the general population which leads to excessive sweating, usually of the underarms, occasionally of the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. This condition can be debilitating, can affect men or women and can lead to embarrassment and social anxiety.

Treatment to the area can be utilised to reduce sweating, it is a quick treatment usually taking only 15 minutes, and can last up to 6-12 months at a time. The aim is not to stop sweating altogether, but to reduce it to normal levels.
Ageing can affect the fullness of the face, leading to hollowing and sagging
The ageing process leads to changes in bone shape of the face, fat pads can shrink and descend, and collagen and hyaluronic acid production in the skin reduce. These factors lead to volume loss, hollowing, sunken, sagging and gaunt looking faces. Example's of what this can look like, is flatter cheeks, thinner lips, heaviness in the nasolabial region and jowling around the jawline.

There are treatments available that can be used strategically to reduce the signs of ageing.
There are different types of treatments which can be used for re-volumisation, whilst other can be used to treat fine lines.

In aesthetic medicine, there are scientific concepts which can be applied to facial aesthetics, such as the Golden Ratio, Ogee Curve or Ricketts' aesthetic line. This, in combination with one's individual facial characteristics, need to be considered when re-volumising and harmonising a face.

Dr Nicole Chater strongly believe's in maintaining natural appearing proportions. "Overfilled faces can be very distracting. Our brain's are hardwired to see natural proportion. It is part of our evolutionary makeup. My aim is to always maintain natural balance and proportion."

Bioremodelling and Biostimulating treatments
There are a multitude of other treatments options to help with skin quality and appearance, but due to TGA regulations, it is best discussed during consultation.
LASER
Lasers can be used for the treatment of many conditions including reducing the appearance of scars, skin rejuvenation, treating sun spots, brown spots, reducing the visibility of blood vessels, facial redness, rosacea, treating lumps and bumps, red stretch marks, freckles, vascular birth marks, hair and tattoo removal.

At CCM, currently available laser's include excel® V and laser genesis, VBeam Perfecta®, Nd:yag laser, Ruby laser, and Fraxel Repair™ (CO2 fractionated laser)

Depending on skin type and laser type, some treatments can be done with one session of laser, whilst other's require a 'treatment course', or maintenance laser treatments.

Services include:

- Dealing with diagnostic uncertainty. When a patient present with a symptom, such as abdominal pain, there are literally 100's of potential causes, ranging from stress to bowel cancer. It is my job to be the medical investigator, to get to the bottom of the cause and then to manage of treat.

- Managing a healthy lifestyle. In the context of an ageing population, the current main contributor's to disease burden in Australia are lifestyle related. This mean that our busy life, leads to food of convenience, which doesn't necessarily help our gut microbiome, our sedentary life, our screen addictions which lead to increased mental health and poor sleep. I take a caring and compassionate approach to helping patient's strive for a better lifestyle, which in turn will improve their risk factor's for disease.

- Medication management. Sometimes, lifestyle is simply not enough and medication is indicated for certain disease processes. Dr Nicole endeavours to approach medication prescription with the best up to date evidence, and always consider the pros and cons when discussing options for a patient.

- Mental health assessment and management. A large proportion of physical ailments can be linked back to our mental health, and vice versa. Holistic care means caring for the mind as much as we do for the body.

- Managing disease in the setting of a multidisciplinary team. No one person holds all the answers. And often in medicine, multiple professionals are involved in care. Of utmost importance is managing all of these opinions, medication changes and advice, and making sense of it all for a patient when medical jargon can be bewildering.

- Screening is a seriously important part of Dr Nicole's role as a GP. Screening for disease means detecting disease before a person has become symptomatic. If disease is discovered early, the outcomes are almost always better. Examples include Cervical screening, mammogram, prostate screening, bone health screening, bowel screening.

- Sexual health and reproductive health care. Dr Nicole regularly performs sexual health procedures, including hormonal implant and IUD insertion as well as D&C procedures.
